The Landlock X is the first significant update to Snow Peak's flagship Landlock in nearly two decades, and the Landlock was never a minor product. It is the Japanese brand's defining two-room shelter, one enclosed space divided between a sleeping room that flexes between two and four people and a large covered living area, intended as a genuine outdoor dwelling for car camping rather than a tent you endure. Snow Peak showed the new version in Japan in June 2026 and brought it to North America in September. It made the cut because the redesign works on structure and space, not trim. The frame has been completely redesigned with DAC, the premium pole maker, and now becomes self-supporting early in the pitch, which makes a shelter of this size far easier to raise. The new geometry lifts the walls and adds about 10 percent more interior volume on the same footprint, roughly 20.5 by 13.3 feet with a peak height of just over 6.5 feet. The shell carries a 3,000 mm waterproof rating and a light-blocking pigment coating, and a multi-layer skylight does double duty as a chimney port, which makes the shelter compatible with Snow Peak's wood-burning tent stoves and a true four-season proposition. On snowpeak.com the Landlock X is USD 1,999.95, shown in stock at check, with pickup available at the Brooklyn store. Stakes are not included. The verdict: the definitive Snow Peak shelter, thoughtfully rebuilt rather than replaced.
