The Punkt. MC03 is a full smartphone built around a refusal to trade in user data. Designed in Switzerland and built in Germany, it runs AphyOS, a privacy-first system based on open source Android code, which splits the phone into two spaces. Vault holds vetted, trusted services, including Threema and Proton apps, while Wild Web allows other apps to be installed under visible controls that limit tracking and unwanted data flows. It made the cut because most privacy phones ask buyers to accept weak hardware, and the MC03 largely does not. The specification includes a 6.67 inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 256 GB of storage expandable by microSD to 1 TB, a 64 MP main camera within a triple camera setup, IP68 water and dust resistance, and a removable 5,200 mAh battery with wired and wireless charging. A data ledger shows what apps are doing, a built-in VPN covers public connections, and Punkt. promises five years of security updates. Punkt. currently lists the MC03 at CHF 699, down from the CHF 745 announced at launch, with the AphyOS subscription now described on the product page as lifetime and included. That pricing change is welcome, but the regional limit matters more. Verdict: the most complete privacy-first phone yet from Punkt., held back for now only by its Europe-only release.
