This is Globe-Trotter marking twenty years of Casino Royale with a 20-inch, four-wheel carry-on built in Hertfordshire from the house material, vulcanised fibreboard made from fourteen layers of recycled paper, cotton and wood pulp bonded and compressed into a shell that is light for its strength. Two colourways carry the idea differently. Black and Graphite is the restrained version, monochromatic with an embossed spade on the strap guides and a flash of red in the handle inking. Black and Ivory leans into the film, with Bond's winning straight, the 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, embossed into the ivory leather straps. It made the cut because the references are built into the construction rather than printed on
top of it, which is the difference between a considered anniversary piece and a logo exercise. The details reward that reading: vegetable-tanned leather corners, trims and handles that will patina with use, cotton webbing straps with hand-cut leather tips, nickel or chrome finished hardware, a telescopic handle, and inside each case a unique individually numbered metal plaque. The brand states each colourway is limited to 100 numbered pieces. At US$3,945 and US$4,095 this is priced as a collectible first and luggage second, and it should be bought with that order understood. Verdict: A genuine piece of film and craft history for the right buyer, at a price that leaves no room for pretending otherwise
