The Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver's Watch HBC011 is a limited edition with an unusual author: Seiko's own fans. To mark 60 years of the Seiko diver's watch, the brand ran a global vote through July 2025, online and in person, offering four dial designs inspired by the sea at different times of day. The winner, by popular choice, was the bright seascape Seiko calls Daytime Blue.

It made the cut because the result is a proper heritage diver first and a novelty second. The watch is based on the 1965 original known to collectors as the 62MAS, Seiko's first diver, a 150-metre automatic that later proved itself with Japanese researchers in Antarctica. The modern version keeps the purpose-driven shape and pairs the vibrant blue dial and bezel with Seiko's wave mark pattern, a symbol carried on its dive watches since the first titanium 600-metre model of 1975\. The screw-down case back is marked Limited Edition and carries each watch's individual number out of 4,500.

Specifications are thoroughly modern: a 40.0mm stainless steel case with super-hard coating, 13.0mm thick, a curved sapphire crystal, Lumibrite on the hands, indexes and bezel, and 300 metres of water resistance for air diving. The automatic Calibre 6R55 runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of about 72 hours. Seiko lists a recommended retail price of AUD 2,200 in its Australian release, with US$1,400 reported, on sale from October 2026\. Verdict: a fan vote that landed on the strongest design, in a diver with real history behind it.
