The CCGT1 is Koenigsegg's road-legal tribute to the CCGT, the GT1 endurance racer it built in 2007 and never got to race. That car was ready, light at around 1,000 kg, and showing real pace in shakedown testing when, two months in, the FIA rewrote the GT1 rules around higher-volume production cars. The programme was cancelled before a single competitive lap, only one CCGT was ever built, and the idea has sat in the company's memory ever since. With the original now refurbished and cleared for historic racing, Koenigsegg has built the sequel it was denied. It made the cut because the tribute is mechanical, not cosmetic. The CCGT1 is built on the CC850 and uses Koenigsegg's twin-turbo V8 with extra cooling for sustained track work, producing 1,280 hp on standard pump fuel and 1,600 hp on E85\. A new sequential shift system works through the nine-speed Light Speed Transmission with a clutch pedal for take-off and ignition-cut shifts, while the CC850's gated six-speed Engage Shift System remains an option. Aerodynamics generate up to 800 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, the active rear wing adjusts through 30 degrees on its own, and a new Ghost Fibre finish revives the white carbon idea last seen on the Trevita. Koenigsegg's first-ever optional factory track package adds slick tyres, a carbon roll cage, racing seats, air jacks and data logging. Koenigsegg has published no price and no production number, so treat any figure circulating elsewhere as unconfirmed. The verdict: the rare tribute car that earns its name in hardware, not paint.
